Treating Flu

As antibiotics won't help with flu, the NHS advice is that if you are otherwise healthy and under 65 with no special circumstances you should be able to get better by looking after yourself at home.

In which case you should:

  • rest
  • keep warm
  • drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration
  • try to take a remedy containing paracetamol or ibuprofen which can lower a high temperature and relieve aches and pains

There are a number of Lemsip products available specifically for treating the symptoms of flu. Talk to your pharmacist about these as some contain pharmacy strength ingredients so are not available for you to pick up directly off the shelf.
